Michael Landau Reveals Surreal and Secretive Studio Experience While Sessioning for Pink Floyd's 'The Division Bell'
Landau was brought in to play on Pink Floyd's 1994 album, "The Division Bell." He recalled how the sessions were shrouded in secrecy, with the band members wearing masks to maintain anonymity. Landau himself was not told who he was playing with until he arrived at the studio. Once inside, Landau found himself playing in a darkened room with the band members spread out around him. He described the experience as "surreal," with the music taking on an otherworldly quality. Despite the unusual circumstances, Landau spoke highly of the band and their music. He praised their attention to detail and their willingness to experiment with different sounds and textures.
"It was one of the most creative sessions I've ever done," Landau said. "They were very open to my ideas and we really pushed the boundaries of what was possible with the guitar."
